The Benefits of an Arm Lift
An arm lift is an aesthetic surgical procedure that reshapes and sculpts the upper arms to achieve proportionate harmony. It does this by removing excess skin and fat that contribute to unwanted wrinkles, sagging and bulging.
Also known as brachioplasty, an arm lift will make your upper arms smoother and leaner, improving the contour of the entire arms. Our patients experience a significant boost in their self perception, so they no longer feel ashamed about wearing short sleeves and bathing suits. You'll be able to to wear the clothes you want to wear with the confidence of knowing you look great!
The First Step:
Your Consultation
Your consultation is one of the most important steps of your transformation. You'll speak with one of our board certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Endara or Dr. Fulks, for your private medical consultation to discuss your condition and goals. The surgeon with whom you speak will be the same surgeon who will perform your surgery. That way, you can make sure if they're the right surgeon for you!
Your consultation is about an hour, and we never rush you through because we know it's so important. We'll take the time to educate you on:
- what an arm lift can do and what it can't do
- specifics of the surgery
- what to expect during recovery
- what your results will be like
We always take time to make sure you understand everything. Feel free to ask us any questions or express your concerns so that we can address them fully. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision.
The Arm Lift Surgery
An arm lift is performed on an outpatient basis. This means you won't need to stay overnight at our surgical facility, and will be free to go home after a couple of hours.
Once markings are made one the arms, you'll most likely be placed under general anesthetic. The excess skin and fat is removed by precise excision then the incisions are closed using absorbable sutures. The resulting scar is usually located on the back or underside of the arm.
Once the anesthesia wears off, you may feel a little uncomfortable. Any discomfort can be easily controlled with prescribed medication. You'll need to wear a compression garment over the treated area to help control swelling. This helps the skin to retract as well, giving you smoother results.
You'll be able to see an improvement immediately, but bruising and swelling may hide your final results. These side effects are typically minimal and go away in the weeks and months following surgery. By the second or third month, you'll be able to see the final outcome.
We'll provide you with full details on what to do to recover, including proper scar care.
You'll enjoy wearing short sleeves again!
