The Benefits of a Brow Lift and Forehead Lift

A brow lift or forehead lift is a facial rejuvenation procedure that restores the youthful contours of the forehead and brow area. A drooping forehead can make you look tired, sad and angry all the time, even when you're not. A permanently negative facial expression can also influence the way others communicate with you in professional and social situations.

By gently lifting the forehead and smoothing away drooping skin, you'll enjoy a brighter, more vibrant appearance much like you had in your youth. You'll enjoy looking less angry and more energetic, which can mean:

  • feeling younger and optimistic
  • maintaining a professional edge in your career
  • having the ability to express positive emotions to others so they are more receptive to you

Brow Lift, Eyelid Lift or Facelift: Which One is Right for You?

A brow lift, eyelid lift and facelift are all designed to lift sagging skin and muscles on the face to give you a brighter, more youthful appearance. However, it can sometimes be difficult to figure out which is right for you. Consider these to help you:

  • Is the primary area of concern your upper face, around the forehead and eyes?
  • Is your forehead pushing downward onto your brows and eyes?
  • Do you have horizontal forehead creases?

If you said yes to any of the above, then a brow lift may be your most suitable option.

One of our board certified plastic surgeons will discuss your goals with you during a private medical consultation. Because we want to make sure we give you an accurate assessment, this consultation is performed by the exact surgeon who will perform your surgery and takes up to an hour. We never rushed you through and take time to go over all of your concerns and options. That way, you'll be better informed and have more confidence in pursuing, or not pursuing surgery.

The Brow Lift Surgery

General anesthesia is typically administered for your comfort.

There are different techniques when performing a brow lift. Depending on the extent of correction you need, it may involve one of the following:

Endoscopic Brow Lift

Small incisions are made behind your hairline, through which an endoscope and instrument are used to modify tissues. These tissues are sutured in place and then the incision is closed.

Coronal (Traditional) Brow Lift

An incision is made in the shape of headphones, from ear to ear. The forehead is gently lifted and tissues are modified before the incision is closed.

Hairline Brow Lift

An incision is placed between the top of your forehead to the beginning of your hairline. Tissue is removed and modified then the gap is closed with sutures.

Your Brow Lift Recovery

Some swelling is to be expected following surgery. You can control this swelling by keeping your head elevated and using cool packs. Medication can be prescribed to help ease discomfort.

There will be limitations on physical activity for a few weeks. These are to protect your incisions and help make your recovery go faster.

Make sure to keep your scars covered up from sun exposure, as this will help make them less noticeable.

Our patients rave about their brow lift results. They say that others often think they look years younger than they actuall are!
