The Benefits of Male Breast Reduction

Excessive male breast growth, medically known as gynecomastia, affects 50% to 60% of teenage males and up to a staggering 70% of men 50 years old and over. Despite the statistics, this is still an aesthetic issue that can be troubling for those affected.
When you have "man boobs", you don't want to take off your shirt. Ever.
Male breast reduction, or gynecomastia treatment, is designed to remove breast tissue and fat to flatten and recontour the chest, giving you a more chiseled and masculine appearance. You'll feel better about your appearance and look fitter, giving you improved self confidence. Your overall chest contour will also be more balanced.
The Male Breast Reduction Surgery
The procedure is performed at our state-of-the-art private surgical facility and no overnight stay is usually required. General anesthesia is typically administered.
The exact surgical techniques performed depend on your unique goals and physiology. However, it is common that incisions are made along the outer border of the areola to remove excess breast tissue. If there is excess fat, tiny incisions are made in other areas so that liposuction can be performed. You'll find out exactly what your surgery entails during the consultative process.
All incisions are sutured and bandaged. If liposuction is performed, you may need to wear a compression garment to control swelling and help the skin retract to a firmer contour.
Your Male Breast Reduction Recovery
In the days following your surgery, you may feel some discomfort in the treated area. This can be controlled with prescribed medication. You'll be able to do most typical daily activities however you won't be able to lift or carry anything heavy for a few weeks.
You may feel a little numb in the treated area. Changes in sensation should gradually return to normal as you heal.
While the scars for most gynecomastia patients are short, with proper care they'll heal into thin silvery lines that will be barely noticeable. Make sure to keep your scars covered while they heal to avoid permanently darkening them.

If you are unhappy with the size of your breasts and are embarrassed about their appearance, then you may want to consider gynecomastia surgery. The procedure can recontour the chest, making it firmer, flatter and more masculine. However, like any surgical procedure, gynecomastia surgery does have its own set of risks and side effects. Therefore, you should be aware of them to see whether they outweigh the benefits.
Any tissue removed during male breast reduction surgery will cause a permanent change in your chest contour. However, aging, fat accumulation and hormone fluctuations can all undo your results. For this reason, please follow a healthy lifestyle to maintain your results for a longer period of time.
